About Graspera
Why Graspera exists
A student working through past papers at nine on a Sunday night has no one to ask. They finish a question, they are not sure whether their method was right, and by the time they can ask a teacher the moment has passed and so has the reason they got it wrong.
Graspera is built for that gap: unlimited practice on the syllabus a student is actually studying, marked straight away, with an explanation of where the marks went rather than just a score.
What it does today
- Generates practice questions for NSW Stage 6 Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Standard, English Studies, Mathematics Extension 1, Investigating Science, Business Studies, Health and Movement Science, Legal Studies, Economics, English Advanced and English Standard, drawn from the module or topic a student selects.
- Marks written and calculated answers against a marking scheme and explains where marks were lost.
- Tracks progress by module, so a student can see what is solid and what needs another pass.
- Gives parents visibility of what their child has been working on.
- Gives schools, where they have an agreement with us, a way to set up student accounts and follow class progress.
Where we are heading
These are goals, not features you can use today. We will move them into the section above as they ship.
- Coverage of the remaining NSW Stage 6 subjects, and then Stage 5.
- Study plans that adapt to what a student keeps getting wrong, timed to their assessment calendar.
- Better handling of handwritten working and diagrams, so a student can photograph a page rather than retype it.
- Tools that help a teacher see where a whole class is stuck, without turning the product into surveillance of individual children.
- Support for other Australian state curricula.
How we build it
- The teacher stays the authority. Graspera adds practice and feedback between lessons. It does not replace teaching, and it does not grade a student in any way that follows them.
- Children are not the product. No advertising, no data sold, no behavioural profiling, and no engagement mechanics designed to make a child anxious about stopping.
- Collect less. We do not collect a student's email address, phone number or photograph, because a study tool does not need them.
- Check the AI against something. Where an answer can be worked out in code, we work it out in code and compare. If the two disagree, the student never sees the question.
- Say what it cannot do. Our AI and Academic Integrity Statement lists where the AI can be expected to fail. We would rather a student knew than trusted it blindly.
Who is behind it
Graspera is built and operated by David Williams (ABN 50639154277), a sole trader based in New South Wales. It is a small, independent operation - which is why the pilot is deliberately small.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the NSW Education Standards Authority, the NSW Department of Education, or any school authority.
Schools interested in the pilot, and parents with questions, can reach us at support@graspera.au.
